Jehovah’s Witnesses commemorated the death of Jesus Christ today, April 12, after sunset.
The event, known as the Memorial of Christ’s Death or the Lord’s Supper, is the most important day of the year for Jehovah’s Witnesses and is organized by every Kingdom Hall, the places of worship where members regularly meet.
The organization said more than 21.4 million members and guests attended the memorial worldwide last year.
The solemn observance includes opening and closing prayers, hymn singing, and a discourse about the significance of Jesus’ sacrifice and the hope of everlasting life. Attendees are also shown unleavened bread and wine, symbolic emblems representing Jesus’ body and blood.
In the case of the ceremony held by the Kingdom Hall of Reseda, California, the speech was given by Samuel Ramon, representative of the Central American Branch.
